“Word of mouth” has long been considered the optimal form of promotion. The challenge with word of mouth, though, was that it was traditionally limited to how many people were reached through face-to-face conversations and by phone or letters.

Today, social media allows individuals to broadcast word of mouth on a grand scale. And the viral nature of the technology promotes the cascading of this information through a network of friends and the friends of friends.

The Lindberg Group was an early adopter of many social media platforms. We were among the first agencies to convince the USDA to use podcasting to reach its stakeholders, we assisted the Fulbright program in the development of their social media philosophy and we helped several associations to be early adopters of Facebook and Twitter within their industries.
